We offer several modes of instruction:
Taking mathematics courses with one's own private teacher is the ultimate way to do it. The student and teacher can proceed at whatever pace is appropriate, and this is usually significantly faster than in a traditional academic setting. Two hourly meetings per week are required to achieve the desired continuity.
Students already enrolled in a class elsewhere often seek tutoring with us. Our objective with tutoring is two-fold: to help the student feel comfortable in his or her class setting as soon as possible, and to fill the gaps in understanding that created the difficulty in the first place. Two hours a week are required to be effective. Homework is almost always necessary. Free phone help is available and its use is encouraged.
We offer the full array of math courses, from basic arithmetic through AP calculus. Most courses offer 40 hours of instruction (some are more), and each of our courses is comprehensive, covering the complete curriculum presented in the one-year high school course of the same name. Four years of high school math can, in this way, be completed in less than two years, freeing up valuable time for taking other subjects. Credit is available (See Course Credit). Classes meet twice a week, an hour and twenty minutes per class. Class size is between 8 and 12. See our Schedule of Classes for specifics offerings.
The internet now affords a vehicle for studying privately from one's own home. The student and teacher are able to interact in real time–they can see each other, hear each other, and write on the same virtual black-board (except now it's called a white-board). It's not as good as "being there", but it is the next best thing. Ask the Director for details.
